M.V. SOL OLYMPIA is a passenger/RoRo/ferry of 5,216 gt, 2,824 net. Her dimensions are 110.95m x 18.50m x 4.82m (draught) x l1.31m (depth). Her speed was 23 knots, when she was built in 1967, but in 1983 it was 17 knots. She was built by A/S Langesunds M/V at Langesund as yard number 55. She can carry 1200 passengers and 220 cars. She has two 12 cyl. Mandiesels of 17,280 bhp 2 screws and a bow and a stern thruster. She was built STENA BRITANNICA for Stena Line at Gothenborg and was commissioned in December 1967. She was purchased by Alaska Marine Highways in 1968 and renamed WICKERSHAM. In 1974 she was sold to Rederiaktiebolaget Salby at Mariehamn (Finland) and renamed VIKING 6. This company renamed her GOELO in 1980 and VIKING 6 in l982 again. In 1982 Sol Lines bought her and renamed her SOL OLYMPIA. This company is at Limassol, Cyprus. Arena Shipping Co. Ltd., purchased her in 1983 and on 24th June 1984 she was decommissioned.

20 December 1967 used in the service from Gothenborg, Sweden to Frederikshavn, Denmark.
April 1968 sold to the State of Alaska (Department of Public Works), renamed in WICKERSHAM , under Panama flag and registry.
Used in the service from Alaska to Canada.
June 1974 Sold to Rederi AB Sally, Mariehamn (Algot Johansson, manager), Finland and renamed VIKING.
14 June 1974 sailed from Seattle bound for Finland.
16 July 1974 used in the service of the Viking Line from Stockholm to Helsinki.
During the winter of 1974 and 1975 modernized by the Jos. L. Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany.
1980 Used in the service from Kapellskär via Mariaham to Nådendal.
May 1980 used in the service from Stockholm to Helsinki.
02 June 1980 chartered by Brittany Ferries, Moriaix, France, renamed in GOELO.
June 1980 used in the service between St Malmo, France and Portsmouth, U.K.
01 May 1982 to 20 May 1982 after the charter was completed, renamed VIKING 6 and used by the Sally Lines in the service from Ramsgate, U.K. to Dunkirk, France.
28 November 1982 till 12 december 1982 chartered by Juelsminde-Kalundborg Line, Juelsminde, Denmark for the service between Juelsminde to Kalundborg.
December 1982 sold to Takis Solomonidis (Sol Lines), Limassol, Cyprus and renamed SOL OLYMPIA.
Used in the service between Haifa-Limassol-Rodos-Pireaus.
21 February 1985 renamed in SUN EXPRESS.
05 March 1985 sailed from Limassol for Chatham, U.K. when she was bareboat chartered by Ab Sally U.K.
01 April 1985 used in the service from Ramsgate to Dunkirk.
June 1985 renamed in VIKING 6.
25 April 1986 last day in service.
26 April 1986 laid up in Dunkirk.
November 1986 sold to Navigazione Arcipelago Maddalenino Spa. (NAV.Ar.MA), Naples and renamed in MOBY DREAM. Tonnages changed to 5,149 grt, 3,900 net, 1,144 dwt.
Used in the service of the Navarma Lines from La Spezia to Bastia.
1994 Transferred to the Sardegna Lines and renamed SARDEGNA BELLA, used in the service fro Livorno to Olbia.
1998 After engine troubles she was laid up in Livorno, Italy.
04 July 2001 sold to Turkish scrappers.
24 September 2001 arrived under tow by Ithalat Ihracat Ltd., Aliaga for scrapping.

The tanker on the stamp is Polys (see topic "Polys")
