Re: Fyn or FYEN
Built as a ship-of-the-line by Nyholm Fabrikmester Thurah, Copenhagen for the Danish Navy.
13 September 1736 launched as FYEN or also given as FYN.
Displacement 780 ton, dim. 144.4 x 38.6 x 17.8 ft. (maximum draught).
Frigate rigged.
Armament 50 – 18 pdrs. guns.
Crew as warship 385 men.
As warship was she not very useful and in 1745 sold to the Asian Company, Copenhagen, where after she was used as a cargo vessel.
She made three voyages to China in 1745, 1747 and 1749, was then in a poor condition and not more seaworthy, she was condemned and sold on 25 February 1752 during an auction, most probably for scrapping.
The stamp is designed after the model of the ship which is in the possession of the Danish Admiralty in Copenhagen.
