Frigate built 1773 Texel for Dutch East India Co. There appear to be no records of this vessel. The type has been deduced from size of crew based on report of survivors and casualties. She was driven on the rocks of Paarden Is near Capetown 1 June 1773, 67 out of crew of 137 survived. South Africa SG332-4. (LB 2/115. 3/6)

The Dutch frigate JONGE THOMAS was owned by the Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie and in service for the Kamer van Amsterdam.
On June 1st 1773, JONGE THOMAS (Capt. de la Main Barend), while anchored at Tafelbaai, lost her anchors in a storm and ran aground on a sandbank, Woodstok sands, near de Soute Rivier. Only 53 from the company of 193 survived.

The 64 years old South-African man named Wolraad Woltemade, went seven times to the wreck of JONGE THOMAS with his horse named VONK and rescued 14 men. When he returned again to the JONGE THOMAS, the ship started going to pieces and too many desperate crew tried to hold on to his horse, pulling Woltemade and his exhausted horse down hereby drowning them.
