August 1957 launched as MONSUNEN.

During the Falkland War was she requisitioned by the Argentinean forces, and used for transport of troops and equipment around the island.
On 23 May 1982 under Argentinean command she was ferrying troops from one island to an other island, when she was intercepted by two British warships the HMS YARMOUTH and BROADSWORD on the south east of the Falklands. She did not stop and the British ships fired several warning shots across her bow. To escape the frigates she ran aground and was abandoned by crew and troops.
She was later found at Goose Green with a rope around her propeller.
Nineteen-year old Janet McCleod, daughter of the Falkland Island Company manager at Goose Green and a keen skin diver, dived into the icy waters to unravel the rope. Thereafter was she used to ferry ammunition to Bluff Cove, risking air attacks by Argentine aircrafts.
1992 Sold to Nav. del Sur Ltda, Chile, renamed NAVISUR.
2000 Renamed NAVARINO.

2016 www.equasis.org gives; She carried still the name NAVARINO. 230 gross tons, IMO No 5239876.
Call sign CB5028. Registered in Chile. Owned and managed by Del Sur Naviera, Punte Arenas, Chile.
2016 She sails between Valparaiso and Navarino Island in the south of Chile.

Her Scott no is 253.
