DUNDONALD clipper

Post by aukepalmhof » Sun Jan 15, 2023 10:28 pm

I believe the vessel depict on the Benin 1996 stamp of 200F sg1387 is the British clipper DUNDONALD, built-in 1891. She is not a tea clipper as given on the stamp.
Comparing the set of sails, poop and fo’c’sle, they are the same as on the stamp, only the painted ports are less as on the painting. There is a lot of information on the ship on the internet and her loss on Disappointment Isle in 1907.
