Pinkschip

Post by Anatol » Thu Oct 09, 2025 6:42 pm

The pinkship- this was a small fishing vessel used along the North Sea coast for catching flatfish and roundfish. The ship could be loaded and unloaded on the beach, a typical practice for coastal fishing. A reconstruction of an Egmond pink was built in Egmond aan Zee between 2003 and 2006.
Another type of "pinkschip" was a cheap, non-passenger carrying vessel, introduced with the Dutch East India Company (VOC) in the 1790s.
