Possibly a specific type of sailing cargo ship, but this is not certain. It is also written as a "Brabants beurtschip" (Brabant barge). Тhis is ыolidly built, flat-bottomed ship with a wide hull and fairly narrow bows. The slightly curved stem beam ends in a sharply inward-pointing point. Up to approximately 25 meters long and 180 tons.
To date, known of two mentions and illustrations. Both depict large, two-masted, tjalk-like vessels. The ship depicted by G. Groenewegen has a pavilion and a cabin. The illustration by P. Le Comte appears to show a more heavily built ship with a cabin and a deckhouse. He also calls it a "Gaffelaar" (Gaffelaar).
For now, it is claimed maintain that the term "Brabants beurtschip" refers to the usage and not to a specific ship type. It is therefore a barge of a type that was common between Antwerp and Rotterdam.
