KOREA SUN or KOREA STAR sister ships.
The British Ship Stamp Society and the German Navicula give the ship the name KOREA SUN, she is also in Stanley Gibbons given as KOREA SUN.
The following I found in Watercraft Philately May June 1984.
The KOREA SUN was the first VLGG (Very Large Crude Carrier) to be built in Korea.
The photograph on the date card, from which the design appears to have been taken shows the funnel markings of the Asia Merchant Marine Co., Korea, and then they suggests this is probably the KOREA SUN, hull no 7302. Her sistership ATLANTIC BARON (name is wrong), the only other ship of the type, is Greek owned. (The last is not correct the KOREA SUN was launched as ATLANTIC BARONESS (correct name) but before delivery renamed in KOREA SUN. When she carried the funnel markings of the Asia Merchant Marine Co., she can not be the KOREA SUN she was owned by Hyundai Merchant Marine Co. Ltd., Korea but could have been chartered by Asia Merchant Marine Co.)
Watercraft Philately September/October 1984 gives:
A, Edelman of Ridderkerk, The Netherlands has provided positive identification of the Korean ships. How he obtained information is an interesting story and an example of ingenuity and perseverance for researchers. When his letters, in English to various South Korean shipyards were not answered, Edelman found a student who was studying the Korean languages to translate it into Korean. He sent these letters to the shipyards, and in a couple of weeks had all the information he asked for – in Korean, of course. Again the student translated for him.
The ship depict on the 30 won stamp is the KOREA STAR.
