Built as a patrol boat on the VEB Peenewerft, Wolgast East Germany, one of the East German Sassnitz class, purchased incomplete in 1990 by Poland, just prior to German reunification.
She was completed by the Northern Shipyard in Gdansk for the Polish Navy.
10 October 1990 launched as ORP PIORUN (422) now one of the Orkan class of which three were built.
Displacement 331 ton standard, 369 ton full load. Dim. 48.9 x 8.7 x 2.2m. (draught)
Powered by three type M 520 diesels, 16.000 hp, three shafts, speed 38 knots.
Range 1.600 mile by a speed of 14 knots.
Armament SSM8 launchers RBS – 15MK missiles, SAM SA-N5 grail quad launcher. 1 – 76mm gun fore, 1 – 30mm AA 6 barrel gun aft.
Crew 36.
11 March 1994 completed.
Late 2002 she completed a refit.
2007 Still in service by the Polish Navy.
