STENA EUROPA ferry

Built under yard No 908 as a passenger/cargo ro-ro ferry by Götaverken Arendal Ab, Göteborg, Sweden for Rederi Ab Göteborg- Frederikshavn Linjen, (Sessan Linjen) Göteborg.
15 October 1980 launched under the name KRONPRINSESAN VICTORIA, Her Majesty Queen of Sweden christened her.
Tonnage 14.378 gross, 7.859 net, 3.315 dwt., dim. 149.02 x 26.53 x 7.8m., draught 6.14m. Length bpp.131.21m.
Powered by 4 12-cyl. Nohab-Wärtsilä Vasa diesel engines, 20.600 bhp., twin controllable pitch propellers, speed 20.5 knots. Two bow-thrusters
Passenger accommodation for 2.100 passengers, 400 berths, could carry 700 cars.
Ice strengthened.
10 April 1981 delivered to the Sessan-Stena founded Göteborg-Frederikshavn Linjen.

1981 Stena Line Göteborg acquired 48 percent share in Sessan Linjen.
13 April 1981 in service from Göteborg to Frederikshavn.
March 1982 after a refit in the Götaverkens Cityyard at Göteborg from 07 April 1982 used in the service from Göteborg to Kiel, during the summer season also used in the service between Göteborg to Frederikshavn.

1986 Stena became managers.
April 1988 renamed in STENA SAGA.
April 1988 after a refit her tonnage increased to 17.062 gross, 10.053 net, 3.189 dwt. Passenger accommodation reduced to 1.400 with increasing the berths on the upperdeck to 1.374 berths, could carry 500 cars.
17 May 1988 used in the service between Oslo-Frederikshavn or Oslo-Frederikshavn-Göteborg.
28 February 1994 arrived by the yard of Niehuis & van den Berg, Rotterdam where the berths in the upperdeck were removed. Berths for 520 passengers and could carry 520 cars.
04 March 1994 renamed in STENA EUROPE.
01 June 1997 used in the service from Hoek van Holland to Harwich.
02 June 1997 arrived by the yard of Wilton Feyenoord, Rotterdam for a refit.
10 June 1997 after repair from the yard renamed in LION EUROPE, and transferred to Lion Ferry at Gdynia, Poland. Under Bahamas register.
19 June 1997 in the service between Karlskrona and Gydinia.
20 June 1997 transferred to the Polish ship register.
01 January 1998 renamed in STENA EUROPE.
31 June 2000 transferred to Bahamas register, homeport Nassau.
20 January 2002 last sailing in the service from Karlskrona to Gdynia.
20 January 2002 arrived by the Cityvarvet at Göteborg for repair and modernization.
24 February 2002 transferred to the British register, with homeport Fishguard.
06 March 2002 sailed from Göteborg in the afternoon bound for the U.K.
13 March 2002 in the service from Fishguard to Rosslare.
2006 Still in the same service. Her tonnage is now given as 24.828 gross, 8.338 net, 2.692 net.
IMO No. 7901760 Owned and managed by the Stena Line UK Ltd..
