
The iron hulled paddle steamer was built by Robert Napier, Govan, Glasgow for account of C.H. Donner.
Launched under the name COPENHAGEN.
Displacement 740 tons, dim. 54 x 7.85 x 2.5m. (draught est.)
Powered by side-lever type engines manufactured by Napier, 240 nhp., speed 10 knots. Paddle-wheels 13m in diameter.
Rigged as a three masted schooner, square on the foremast.
1845 Completed.
She was first used till 1848 in the packet-boat service between Copenhagen and Kiel.
1848 Bought by the Danish navy and renamed SLESVIG.
Used by the Danish Navy for towing, the transportation of troops and as mail boat.
1856 The Danish King Christian IX acquired her after a refit as Royal yacht. She was used by him until 1879 with the exception of 1864 in which year she was armed with 12 – 3 pdrs. guns and she was used as a tender for the warships NIELS JUEL and DANNEBROG during the Slesvig-Holstein War.
1879 Withdrawn as a Royal yacht when the new Royal yacht DANNEBROG was built.
1884 Again used in commercial service, broken up in 1893/94.
