Gothic, of the Shaw Savill and Albion Co. Ltd., built in 1948 by Swan Hunter and Wigham Richardson Ltd., at Wailsend-on-Tyne. Tonnages: gross 15,911; net 9,115; deadweight 11,530. Length 561ft.; beam 72ft. 3in., draft 29ft. 7in.; three decks. Propelling machinery: six steam turbines; two screw shafts; speed 17 knots. Service: United Kingdom and New Zealand, via the Panama Canal. Accommodation for 85 passengers. In the early 1950s she was chosen for the Royal Commonwealth Tour. After a serious fire at sea in 1968, she was broken up in Taiwan in 1969. SG160
