Built as a passenger- cargo ro-ro ferry under yard No 244 by Trondhjems Mekaniske Verksted, Trondheim for the Nordenfjeldske Dampskibsselskab A/S, Trondheim, Norway.
29 January 1960 launched as the HARALD JARL.
Tonnage 2.568 grt, 1.319 net, 650 dwt., dim. 87.41 x 13.29 x 7.35m., length bpp.79.55, draught 4.92m.
One B&W 5-50VTBF-110/40 diesel, manufactured by Aker, Oslo, 3.447 hp., one controllable pitch propeller, speed 19 knots.
Accommodation for 595 passengers.
20 June 1960 delivered to owners.

She was built for the Hurtigruten route between Bergen and Kirkeness. In addition to providing passenger and mail service she was equipped for carrying refrigerated cargo, such as frozen fish from the small northern ports.
1983 Rebuilt and modernised to comply with new rules.
April 1985 sold to A/S Kosmos, Bergen, resold in 1987 to RoNoTro A/S, Stavanger.
A few months later was she taken over by Troms Fylkes D.S.
25 August 1989 homeport Tromsø, and given the TFDS colours.

06 August 1997 she grounded on a southbound voyage on Oterholmen north of Røvik. Refloated by the Coast Guard cutter KAPTEIN SKAUGEN and towed to Røvik for a survey, she got severe damage and was repaired by Myklebust Mek. Verksted, Gurskebotn. She needed 30 tons of steel to repair the damage.
9 October 2001 made her last sailing in the service from Bergen to Kirkenes, returned 20 October and after a service of 41 years her career in the Hurtigruten route was over.

Moved to the Fosen Shipyard, used as a floating hotel during the construction of TROLLEFJORD.
Several of her famous painting made by Kaare Espolin Johnsson were removed and placed on the new ship.

After the work was finished she was put on the sale list.
23 September 2002 taken over by the Elegant Cruise Line, Monrovia for 4.2 million Nkr.
Renamed ANDREA and sailed to Udevall Shipyard in Sweden for conversion in a cruise vessel.
Tonnage 2.549 grt., 820 net, 590 dwt.
Accommodation for 225 passengers.
18 May 2003 towed to Cityvarvet, Göteborg for further conversion.
16 September 2003 sailed from the yard bound for Dover, where she arrived on 18 September 2003.
04 November 2003 first cruise from Cadiz to Antigua.
June 2006 sold to AML Shipping Ltd., Liberia, and managed by West Wind Ltd., Split, Croatia.

2009 In service as given by http://www.equasis.org IMO No. 5142657, under Liberian flag, same owners and managers.
Her cruise schedule gives that she is in use in the Antarctic waters. Passenger accommodation 107/115 passengers in 57 cabins and a crew of 40 with the Norwegian nationality.

On the stamp she is the ship alongside the quay in Trondheim, while the other ship in the background is the NORDSTJERNEN entering the port. (see list for her details.)

04-2009 laid up in Split, 04-2012 sold to Premier Cruises Ltd., 2013 renamed in SERENISSIMA.
