Built under yard no 451 as a multi-purpose cargo vessel by the Neptun shipyard at Rostock for Strandheim & Stensaker (Nord Transport) at Bergen, Norway.
By launching she got the name HANSEL
Tonnage 2.889 gross, 1.559 net, 4.234 dwt., dim. 96.4 x 14.6 x 7.2m.
Powered by an 8 cyl. MAK diesel, 3.000 bhp., speed 13 knots, one screw.
She was suitable to carry bulk, general cargo or containers. Did have large hatches, to make her suitable to load long pieces.
One 10 ton gantry crane for loading and discharging. Accommodation for 31 crew and 2 passengers. Delivered to owners in 1969. Homeport Oslo.
She was the first vessel of type 451, her sisters were HANSEAT, VESTLAND, RYDAL and HANSEATIC, altogether 21 of this type were built.
1974 Sold to Hull Grates Shipping Co. Grimsby, England, renamed in SIMONSGATE
1976 Sold to Rederi A/B Wiliam, Sweden, renamed SCOL ROVER.
1980 Sold to Bernt Abrahamsson, Sweden, renamed in WINDROVER.
1984 Sold to Erik Thun A/B, Sweden, renamed in NORDIC BOARD.
1985 Sold to Finanziare Mar. S.r.L., Italy, renamed NORDIC ONE.
On 20-03-1992 got fire on board in a position about 20 mile south of Crotone, was towed to Crotone the next day, thereafter sold.
She was sold through Montenoli Srl., Italy to Astoria Cia Nav. S.A.Honduras, renamed in MEGAS ALEXANDROS.
Towed to Piraeus, Greece where she arrived 16-11-1992, thereafter laid up in the Bay of Eleusis, Greece.
Sold to shipbreakers in Turkey. left Piraeus under tow and arrived on 23-12-1993 by the breaker Oge Gemi Sokum Ticaret, at Aliaga, Turkey.
