From 1952 Germany built as war reparation 12 ships for Israel, and one of these ships was the SHOMRON.
Built as a cargo vessel under yard No 1015 by the Kieler Howaldtswerke, Kiel, Germany for Zim Israel Nav. Co. Ltd.
Launched as the SHOMRON.
Tonnage 5.430 grt, 3.120 net, 6.740dwt, dim. 415.5 x 54.4 x 24.9ft. (draught).
Powered by one 8-cyl MAN diesel engine, 5.340bhp., speed 15 knots.
Accommodation for 12 passengers
October 1955 completed.
She was built for the citrus fruit trade from Israel to Europe during the winter season and during the summer in other trades.
1972 Sold to the Cambridge Shipping Co. Ltd., Cayman Islands, not renamed.
1973 Sold to the World Wide Shipping Co., Cyprus, not renamed.
The same year sold to Cambridge Shipping Co. Ltd., Cyprus renamed in AIDA
1975 Sold to Lapithos Shipping Co. S.A., Greece, renamed OMIROS T
1979 Sold to Intermarine Tremains Corp., Panama, renamed ALALBARAKAH.
The same year renamed by owners in BILBARAKAH, but if she ever has sailed under that name is doubtful, she was later that year again renamed in ALALBARAKAH.
1980 Sold to shipbreakers in Taiwan, arrived Kaohsiung 16 April 1980 and was broken up by Yih Shen Steel.
