Built as a passenger vessel by Atel. & Chant. De la Loire, St Nazaire for the Romanian State Railways, Constantza.
1904 Launched under the name ROMANIA.
Tonnage: 3152Gt. 1328nt. l500Dwt. L356.9ft. B41,9ft. Dr27.5ft. Powered by two 3cyl. triple expansion steam engines, manufactured by Ia Loire. 2 screws. speed l8kn. Delivered 2 May 1904. She had one funnel, while the other two built by the same yard for Rumanian account were two stackers. Most probably used in the same service as the other two. 1908 Transferred to Romanian State Maritime Services, Constantza. 1917 In Russian naval service as a seaplane tender renamed RUMYNIJA. 1918 Renamed as RESPUBLIKA RUMYNIJA. Captured on 2 May by the Germans in Sevastopol, in German naval service, left behind on 18th November. Returned to the Romanian State Maritime Service, Constantza in the same year. February 1924 requisitioned by the German navy, and in service on November 1942 as a MTB tender. 3rd November 1943 used as a Minelayer. 12th May 1944 on a voyage from Sevastopol to Constantza she was bombed during a Russian air raid, the munitions on board exploded and she sank in the Black Sea.
