Per Brahe

The ship on the first day cover is Per Brahe built in Copenhagen, Denmark,
in 1908. Bought by the Mariehamn steamship company in 1936, the ship
was put into service on the route Turku–Mariehamn–Stockholm from 1937 to 1953.
Per Brahe was scrapped in 1955.

Built as a passengervessel under yard No 263 by Akt. Burmeister & Wain, Copenhagen for the Dampsk. Selsk. Øresund (J.D. Krogh), Copenhagen/Kallundborg.
Launched as the SVERIGE.
Tonnage 686 gross, dim. 64.0 (bpp) x 10.1m.
One 3-cyl. triple expansion steam engine, manufactured by shipsbuilder, 187 nhp, speed 15 knots.
June 1908 completed.

1917 Sold to the Danske Statsbaner, Kallundborg, renamed in NIELS HOLST.
1936 Sold to Ångfartygs A/B Mariahamn (W.H. Hansen), Åbo.

She was broken up by A/B Carl Persson & Söner the first quarter of 1955 at Ystad, Sweden.
