The M.V. Nkwazi was built by Yarrow and Co., in 1955, and is the main cargo vessel on Lake Malawi, with a capacity for 200 tons of dry cargo.

Built as a cargo vessel under yard 2100 by Yarrow Shipbuilders & Co., Scotstoun for the Nyasaland Railways.
1955 Completed under the name NKHWAZI (the name on the stamp is wrong), she is named after the fish eagle nkhwazi which is one of the most familiar sights around Lake Malawi.
Tonnage 295 tons, dim. 113.5 x 27 ft.
She carries general cargo and is fitted out with a special gas-tight hold for dangerous or highly inflammable goods.
2010 Still in service now owned by Malawi Lake Services.
