Built as a logistic support training ship by the Braila ship yard at Braila Romania for the Romanian Navy.
Launched as the CONSTANTA (F-281), named after the largest Romanian port Constanta. One of the Croitor Class. One sister the MIDIA (F-283)
Displacement 2,850 tons standard, 3,500 tons full load. Dim. 108 x 13.5 x 3.8m. (draught)
Powered by two diesel engines, 6,500 bhp, twin shafts, speed 16 knots.
Armament: 1 dual 57mm/70cal DP. 2 dual 30mm AA. 2 dual 14.5mm AA. 2 RBU-1200 ASW RL. 2 SA-N_5 SAM positions.
One crane forward for ammunition replenishment
Fitted out with a helicopter deck aft and hangar for one Alouette-III helicopter.
Crew 150.
15 September 1980 completed. Homeport Constanta.
The class is a scaled-down version of the Russian Don class.
She is a supply and support ship for small combatants, but has also some combat capability.
