Transport is a favourite philatelic thematic, it is also an integral part of urban infrastructure. Various forms of transport have evolved in Australia’s cities.
One of the 60c stamps of this set of five depict a ferry, ferries are the heart of Sydney’s transport system, tracing their roots back to the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788. They carry more that 14 million customers annually across one of the world’s most stunning harbours, passing notable landmarks such as Luna Park.

She was the fifth ship of her class; she has eight sisters which are basically identical.
The class is operated by Sydney Ferries in the inner harbour routes of Sydney including as far as Drummoyne.
