LATINADIKO

Post by aukepalmhof » Fri Jan 11, 2013 7:45 pm

The stamp shows a “Latinadiko” under construction at a shipyard in the 18th Century.

She was a wooden sailing vessel used from the early 18th century by Greek captains special from Hydra and Spetes for the transport of goods in the Mediterranean and Black Sea..
Tonnage around 50 – 60 tons.
It were handy a very manoeuvrable vessels, and armed to repel attacks from corsairs.

I like to have more info on this type of vessel.
