CALDERAS. Helicopter Carrier built as HMS FIFE County Class Destroyer by Fairfield Shipbuildinq & Eng. Co. Govan for the Royal Navy.
Keel laid 1" July 1632. Launched 9th July 1964. Commissioned 21st June 1966.
5440tn. L520'5" B54·. Dr20'5" Two AEI sets of geared steam turbines. 30000shp Four English Elec. 66 Gas turbines. 30000shp. 30kn. 2 screws. I
Armament. Four Exocet MH38 Shorts Seasluq Mk 2. Two Vickers 45" guns. One helicopter.
Complement 470. Affter long refit in March 1983 recommissioned and used as a Traininq Ship for BRNC, Dartmouth. In June 1987 purchased by Chile and commissioned 12th Aug. 1987. renamed BLANCO ENCLADA.
