BOREA. Passenger Built 1960 as BORE by AB Oskarshamns Varv, Okarshamn 3878Gt. 1817Nt. 884dwt. L99.85m. B15.3m. Dr5.25m. Two Wartsila Vee Oil 4SA engines each 12-cyliners 200x240. Converted to a Passenger/Ro-Ro cargo ferry 1988. Owned by Jakob Line AS in 1987. Renamed KRISTINA REGINA. Present owners Christina Cruises Ltd. Kotka, Finland. She participated in D-Day Commem Fleet review at Spithead on 5th June 1944.

The stamp was issued in commemoration of the Finish Tourist Association’s 100th anniversary, and the stamp was designed by students from the industrial art school. They chose to use a design of an older type Finnish passenger ship when she still had two real funnels. Both funnels are shown on the stamp, but on the BOREA the forward funnel was a dummy. Only one two funnel ship matches the profile of the passenger ship shown on the stamp, and that is the BOREA.
