The ELISABETH or also given ELIZABETH was not a monitor but a cruiser.

She was an old fashion designed ship with still her guns on the broadside.
Barque rigged.
When commissioned her primary function was to train stokers and technicians.
Her early years in service were mostly spent in the Black Sea. Made also some cruises in the Mediterranean.
1895 Took part in the opening ceremonies of the Kiel Canal in Germany, thereafter she visited Sweden.
1904/05 underwent major repairs, her barque rig reduced to two poles masts, and some armament was changed.
During World War I all her guns and torpedo tubes were removed and she was used as a guard ship in the Danube estuary based in Sulina.
After the war harbour support ship for the Naval Academy at Tiglina, then in use as a accommodation ship in Galatz and Sulina.
1926 Scrapped.
