The stamp of Tristan da Cunha showing HMS PYRAMUS shows the wrong ship, HMS PYRAMUS never visited Tristan da Cunha but the British sailing cargo ship PYRAMUS built 1822 visited the island in 1829 with on board the ex-Royal Naval Officer William Caswell, when he was on his way to settle in Australia, the family arrived Sydney on 09 May 1829. The ship depict on the stamp must be the HMS PYRAMUS, I could not find a painting of her on the net but she was designed after the lines of the French warship LA BELLE POULE.
29 June 1805 ordered as a 5th Rate ship-of-the-line.
April 1806 laid down at the yard of Charles Greensword & Thomas Kidwell at Itchenor near Chichester.
But the builder failed in 1807 and order and frames transferred to the Portsmouth Dry-dock.
May 1808 re-ordered.
November 1808 keel laid down.
22 January 1810 launched as the HMS PYRAMUS.
Tonnage 920 ton (bm), dim. 141.1 x 38.5 x 12.1ft, length on keel 117.2ft, draught 12.9ft.
Armament: Upper deck 26 – 18pdrs., quarter deck 2 – 9 pdrs, and 10 – 32 pdrs carronades, forecastle 2 – 9pdrs and 2 – 32pdr carronades.
Crew 264.
January 1810 commissioned under command of Captain Charles Dashwood.

After commissioned she was assigned for the Baltic.
1812 She was a unit in the Channel fleet.
1813 With the BELLE POULE she captured the 10 gun US privateer ZEBRA.
20 April 1813 she captured the privateer LA VILLE DE L’ORIENT armed with 14 guns.
1814 in Ordinary at Plymouth till 1820.
February 1821 re-commissioned under command of Captain Francis Newcombe for the West Indies.
1826 At Portsmouth, paid off, 1829 laid up at Portsmouth.
From 1834 receiving and convict ship at Halifax, Nova Scotia till 1875.
10 November 1879 sold for £1,600 at Halifax for breaking up.
