By comparing the stamp with photos of the UASC fleet the only ships with the sloping breakwater on the sides before the containers is the 13,500 TEU’s class of 9 ships delivered between 1911/12 to the United Arab Shipping Company. It are all sisters and unknown which of the class is depict, the details of the nine are all the same, except launching and delivery date.
All nine were built by Samsung Shipbuilding & Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., Koje, South Korea.
The first delivered was UMM SALAL built for UMM SALAL Ltd., Safat, Kuwait, under yard No 1876. IMO No 9525857.
? Launched as the UMM SALAL, named after the municipality in the state Qatar.
April 2011 delivered.
Tonnage 141,077 grt, 145,327 dwt, dim. dim. 366 x 48.2 x 15.50m(maximum draught), length bpp. 349.5m.
Powered by one BW 12K98ME-7 diesel engine, 71,760 kW, one shaft, speed 26.0 kn. (maximum.)
Capacity for 13,500 TEU’s, included 1,000 reefer plugs.
All of this class are homeported at Valetta, Malta. Managed by United Arab Shipping Co., Safat, Kuwait.
