FRENCH BOUNTY SHIP

Post by aukepalmhof » Mon Mar 14, 2016 7:48 pm

The Cambodian stamp set issued in 1990 the 25r stamp so far is not identified which ship is depict, by searching on the net for a book, I found that the book jacket of “The Bounty Ships of France” by Alan Villiers & Henri Picard shows two sailing ships of which the ship in the front on the left is exact the same as the design of the stamp.
The jacket painting is made by Mark Myers and designed by Martin Treadway, it was a pity the two ships depict were not named in the book, but I believe it are two “bounty” ships of France which were built and sailed with a French Government subsidy from 30 January 1893 till the First World War.
