ROUND THE WORLD YACHT RACE 1991

Tonga issued in 1991 a Miniature Sheet which shows us racing yachts under full sail, as given by Stanley Gibbons ships on stamps as a yacht at dawn, yacht in the morning, yacht at midday, yacht at evening and yacht at night.
The inscription on the sheet gives “The Round the World Yacht Race 1991, Halfway Stage”, the only round the world yacht race in 1990/1991 was The BOC Challenge 1990/91 sponsored by the British Oxygen Corporation (BOC).
The yachts made not a call at Tonga, the nearest she were was at Sydney, Australia.
The sail yacht is not identified, most probably an imagination of a yacht by the designer.
