HELENA yacht 1922

The following I found on the sailing sloop HELENA.
Built in1921 as a sailing yacht in Santo Amaro di Pico, Azores by Manuel Antonio Furtado de Simas which was known as Master Manuel Bento.
Launched as the HELENA
In the first half of 1922 was she registered by the Port Captain of Porto da Horta with registration no H187TL.
Tonnage 47.985 gross, 42,276 net. Dim. 21 x 5.30 x 1.25m.

May 1928 she was fitted out with a Red Wing oil engine, 15 hp, which was replaced in 1935 during a refit in a Red Wing oil engine of 70hp. During the refit her passenger accommodation was improved.
Her tonnage altered to 52.10 gross, 48.40 net.
1942 She was sold by Manuel Emidio Herz and José Antonio da Rosa and others in Prainha do Norte, her hull was then raised and fitted out as a fishing vessel by Master Manuel Joaquim de Melo. Tonnage 66.03 gross, 57.06 net, dim. 25.15 x 5.34 x 2.45m.
Engine was replaced by a Volvo Penta engine of 25 bhp.
1954 Sold by José Antonio Rosa and others to Sociedade Picoense de Transportes Maritimes Ltd. in Prainha do Norte. A new main engine was built in a Callessen diesel of 100hp.
1957 sold to Manuel Machado Garcia, S Roque do Pico, used as a tuna fishing vessel and renamed FERNANDO SILVA H19C.
01 May 1958 her registration as cargo vessel was cancelled.
During the 1970’s sold to the Cape Verde, not given her owners name and if she was renamed.
She was wrecked in the early 1980’s in the Cabo Verde.
