Rodina

Featured on the 50 leva stamp of Bulgaria issued in 1947 is the steamer Rodina, second ship of the name. This vessel was taken over by the Bulgarian Government in 1946 and was previously the Danbelt and before that the Fornaes. She was built by Burmeister and Wain of Copenhagen in 1945, her dimensions being 333.4ft. x 51ft. x 18.3ft. The stamp commemorates the "Bulgarian National Shipping Revival".

Built in 1944 by Burmeister & Wain, Copenhagen, # 679, for Hapag, Germany as ALSTERTOR, after the end of the war not finished and completed as FORNAES, for a Danish owner, trials on 03-08-1945.
In 1946 sold to J.D. Lauritzen, Hellerup, renamed DANBELT, same year sold to Nav. Maritime Bulgare, renamed RODINA, first ship of the new Bulgarian merchant fleet.
Freighter, Gt:2709, Nt:1499, Dw:5280, L:109,60m. B:15,60m. Draught:6,10m. 10½ kn. In 1976 demolished in Split.

Broken up by Brodopas, Split, Yugoslavia, where she arrived on 04 January 1976.
