SURINAME

Built as a cargo vessel under yard No. 153 by Bijker’s Aannemings Bedrijf, Gorinchem, Netherlands for Scheepvaart Maatschappij Suriname, Netherlands.
23 January 1960 launched under the name SURINAME. (not as given in SG Collect ships on stamps as SURINAM.)
Tonnage 1.078 gross, 599 net, 1.200dwt. Dim. 69.1 x 10.6 x 5.84m., length bpp 61.99m.
Powered by a 6-cyl Werkspoor diesel, manufactured by Werkspoor Amsterdam, 942 bhp, one screw, speed 11.5 knots. Fuel capacity 73 ton.
Homeport Paramaribo, Surinam.
01 May 1960 delivered to owners.

1975 Transferred to Surinam flag, after the country got independent, same owners.
1979 Sold to Suriname Coast Traders N.V., Paramaribo, Surinam, not renamed.
2004 Laid up, withdrawn from classification.
2008 http://www.equasis.org gives: IMO No. 5345625, call sign PZAS, owners and managers the same. In service.
