Roumanian Monitor, one of four sister ships, at various times have been named as vessel on the stamp, the others beingION C BRATIANU, MIHAIL KOGALNICEANU and LASCAR CATARGIU. The stamp shows two of these Monitors. The artist a Romanian Navy Officer depicted Lascar Catargiu and Mihail Kogalniceanu.

Four river Rumanian monitors were ordered in at that time Austria/Hungary Trieste for the Rumanian Navy.
The two Rumanian monitors depict on this stamp are the LASCAR CATARGIU and MIHAL KOGALNICEANU as given by the designer a Romanian Naval Officer and also a Marine Artist and were both built by Stabilimento Tecnico Triestino (STT) at Trieste for the Rumanian Navy.
She were shipped in sections to Rumania and assembled at Santieri Galati in Galati.
LASCAR CATARGIU was built under yard No 374.
April 1907 launched.
Tonnage 680 ton, dim. 62 x 10.2m, draught 1.6m.
Powered by a steam engine 1,800 hp, speed 12 knots.
Armament 3 – 120mm guns in turrets (from 1937: 3 – 120mm Skoda-Bofors.) and 2 – 120 mm Howitzers which were removed in 1937. 1 – 37mm Rheinmetall AA guns installed in 1937. 4 – 47mm guns, two were removed in 1937.
1 x 2 – 13.2 Hotchkiss MG installed in 1937.
Crew 110.
October 1907 in service in the Rumanian Danube River Flotilla.
At that time the four monitors were the heaviest armed ship on the river
1937-1938 Modernized.
24 August 1944 sunk by 16 Soviet bombers Pe-2 in the Vilcova area.
She was salvaged after the war in 1953 and repaired on a Braila shipyard.
From 1953 until 1957 used as training ship as the M-202
1957 In reserve.
Between 1959 and 1962 scrapped.
MIHAIL KOGALNICEANU built under yard No 373.
February 1907 launched.
September 1907 completed a unit of the RUMANIAN Danube River Flotilla.
Details the same as LASCAR CATARGIU.
1937 -1938 Modernized.
24 August 1944 sunk by Soviet aircraft at Chilia Noua.
1953 Salvaged and repaired by a Giurgiu shipyard.
From 1953 till 1957 used as a training vessel M-204.
1957 In reserve.
Between 1959 and 1962 scrapped.
