FENNICA icebreaker

Built as a combination icebreaker and offshore supply ship, under yard No 401 by Finnyards Oy, Rauma, Finland for Finnish Maritime Administration, Helsinki, Finland.
21 April 1992 keel laid down.
10 November 1992 launched under the name FENNICA, one sister the NORDICA.
Tonnage 9.088 gross, 2.727 net, 1.650 dwt, dim. 116 x 26 x 12.5m. length bpp. 96.7m. draught 8.4m.
Powered by four Wärtsila Vee Oil driving two generators each 6.652kW connected to two electro motors each of 10.196 shp + two 16-cyl. Oil 4SA engines total 16.099 bhp. (in center) + two 16-cyl. Oil 4SA total 12.081 bhp.
Two directional propellers, three thwart thrust controllable pitch propellers, 12 knots. In open waters she can get a speed of 16 knots.
Accommodation for 120 people.
01 March 1993 completed.

She can break ice 1.8 meter thick, and with a speed of 8 knots she can break ice of 80cm.
Mostly she is chartered by the Norway company Ugland Offshore A/S from May till October and in use as cable layer, anchor handling, tug and oil supply vessel.
She has a deckspace of 1.045 square meter, suitable to carry 2.500 ton deckcargo.
Two electro cranes for loading/discharging, one of 15 ton the other 5 ton.
Can carry a Bell Jet Ranger helicopter, which via a lift can be lowered in her hangar below decks.
Fitted out with a hospital, pool, sauna and gymnasium.
